Rhonda Shear is synonymous with controversy. After winning her introductory beauty pageant in 1975 as Miss Louisiana USA, and a few more besides, she earned the title Queen of the Floral Trail Society. Later, in an act that the more chaste members of the society called scandalous, she posed – clothed – in an edition of Playboy Magazine.

Soon after, the society stripped her of her title, which fuelled Shear with sufficient determination to launch a purposely risque counter campaign. She wasn’t then, nor is she now, a woman to stay clear from standing her ground. Think daring damsel, not shrinking violet.

Her public behaviour all around the public palaver that ensued won her the attention of one Bob Hope, who opened his Hollywood door to her. Soon after her work with Hope on the show The Starmakers, Shear begun hobnobbing with celebrity’s glitterati.

Her later role as host of USA Up All Night is the one she is most remembered for. In it, she conveyed her uproariously amusive personality, enacting parodies of well-remembered characters from America’s early television shows.

With brains to boot, Shear has devised into rather the formidable businesswoman. With a degree in communications from Loyola University and an acceptance letter into law school, there’s no doubting the woman has intelligence. Though her detractors may accuse her of peddling content of the lowest mutual denominator, her public following and universal appeal have put salaried to such criticism.

Her lingerie range is sure to keep your other half up all night, to quote the show that made the woman a star. Though it is sensuous and unfit for daylight hours, Shear’s lingerie appeals to women right throughout the board – even the bashful.
